Exhibition - Tribute to the sculptor Theodoros
Alpha Bank was the supporter of the exhibition entitled “Tomb Tribute” by the sculptor Theodoros, which was showcased at the Benaki Museum, Pireos Street Annexe, from 20.10.2011 until 4.12.2011.
The exhibition presented the sculpture “Tomb Tribute” which in the words of the artist “summarises in a circular concept, the course of his lifetime work”. The work, which uses the codes of the “sculptural language” of Theodoros, hangs from iron wire cables over the atrium of the Museum. It consists of a suspended wheel with twelve spokes, from which hangs, balancing like a set of scales, an inverted heart.
The sculptor Theodoros describes the work as follows: “A hanging set of scales balances on the wheel of time, weighing the essence of the word-concept ΤΕΧΝΗ-ART, with the ‘weighing measure’ being a wooden ‘Matrak-Phallus’, while in contrapuntal distinction, on the ground, lies an earthen green heart with real grass and red flowers, where Art ‘sows’-cultivates the quality of life and fertilises Culture”.
