The Alpha Bank Collection. Greek Art from 1960 until today
On Monday, December 10, 2018, the exhibition “The Alpha Bank Collection. Greek Art from 1960 until today” opened at Warehouse B1, at the port of Thessaloniki. Featuring important works of art from the Alpha Bank Art Collection, the Exhibition, jointly organised by the Bank and the Thessaloniki Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts (MOMus), was on display until March 3, 2019.
The Exhibition presented 41 works that depict the evolution of contemporary Greek art over the past six decades, by distinguished Greek artists, namely: Nikos Alexiou, Dimitris Alithinos, Stephen Antonakos, Michalis Arfaras, Yannis Bouteas, Vlassis Caniaris, Christos Caras, Manolis Charos, Costas Coulentianos, Yannis Gaitis, Apostolos Georgiou, Nella Golanda, Yorgos Golfinos, Irini Gonou, Yorgos Hadoulis, Irini Iliopoulou, Marigo Kassi, Nikos Kessanlis, Jannis Kounellis, Yorgos Lappas, Yorgos Lazongas, Tassos Mantzavinos, Jason Molfessis, Leda Papaconstantinou, Rena Papaspyrou, Pavlos, Dimitris Perdikidis, Alexandros Psychoulis, Chryssa Romanos, Yorgos Rorris, Lucas Samaras, Vassilis Skylakos, Theodoros Stamos, Aspa Stassinopoulou, Takis, Thodoros, Thanassis Totsikas, Costas Tsoclis, Maria Yannakaki and Maria Ziaka.
This Exhibition completed, in a way, the previous display titled “The Alpha Bank Collection. Greek art from 1920 until today”, which was showcased at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in 2006. Its main aim is to highlight the renewed image of the Alpha Bank Art Collection, which has been enriched with important acquisitions over the past decade. These acquisitions, presented for the first time as works of the Bank’s Art Collection, reinforce the Collection’s contemporary works section and stress the importance of Greek art from 1960 until today. The search for works that will enable the Bank’s Art Collection to present, in the most comprehensive way, the art of these decades, continues.
