“Banknotes-the Greek Banknote”

Educational Program for Elementary School and Gymnasium students at the Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank in Corfu. With the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religions.
In the context of the permanent exhibition "Greek Banknotes. Historical Evidence" at the Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank in Corfu, is under way the educational programme entitled:

"Banknotes - the Greek Banknote"

The Educational Program aims at getting students acquainted with the history of coinage, highlighting Greek banknotes that were produced from the foundation of the Greek State (1830) until the arrival of the Euro (2002).

Students become familiar with the illustrations of Greek banknotes and learn about landmark moments in Greek history, through conversation and with the use of relevant supervisory material. They further develop their creative skills by designing a banknote, while at the same time group activities help them improve their social skills and team spirit.

Two booklets were designed especially for this Program, tailored to the needs of the two different grade levels (Elementary School and Gymnasium). Serving as support material in the implementation of Exhibition research activities, the booklets are distributed to students.

At the Museum, all the prescribed protection measures against Covid-19 are strictly observed, according to the sanitary protocols of EODY.

Participation in the Program is free of charge
