BOISSONNAS - Images of Greece. Rizarios Foundation Collection
The exhibition “Βoissonnas – Images of Greece”, presented at the Exhibition Area of the Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank at Corfu since 15 July 2011 is extended until Sunday 29 April 2012.
The exhibition showcases 75 photographs of the Swiss photographer Fred Boissonnas (1858-1946), the most famous member of the family that created a “dynasty of photographers” in Geneva, taken during the three trips that he made to Greece, starting from Corfu in 1903.
For more than 30 years, the Swiss photographer became one of the best ambassadors of Greece, revealing and promoting to Europe and to the rest of the world, our bright landscapes, the brilliant ancient monuments and the vivid everyday life of our people.
The extension of the exhibition, which is jointly organised by Alpha Bank, the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece and the Rizarios Foundation, owner of the photographic material presented, was decided due to its particular interest and the great visitor turnout that reached, until today, approximately 6,000 persons.
