Treasures of Thera

The publication Treasures of Thera presents the finds from the first excavations conducted by Spyridon Marinatos on Thera, present-day Santorini, from 1967 to 1971. Significant remains of houses, sanctuaries and public buildings dating back to the 2nd millennium BCE have been revealed on the southern end of the island, called Akrotiri. The pottery, the superb wall paintings and various other objects that were brought to light attest to the flowering of an advanced civilisation in this part of the Aegean.
