The Alpha Bank Art Collection is loaning 1 work of art by Stephen Antonakos to the exhibition hosted by the B & M Theocharakis Foundation to mark the 100-year anniversary since his birth. The exhibition provides a complete overview of the creator’s artistic journey and influence, and showcases his particular contribution to the language of geometric abstraction and the use of neon as an artistic medium, through 6 decades of artistic production.

With this participation the Collection reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting significant cultural initiatives and collaborations that showcase contemporary Greek art.
The exhibition is a tribute to the work of Greek-American artist Stephen Antonakos and marks the 100-year anniversary since his birth.
The exhibition presents a significant number of works to provide a comprehensive overview of the artist's artistic journey and influence.
At the same time, it highlights the creator’s particular contribution to the language of geometric abstraction and the use of neon as an artistic medium.
The exhibition title, Vectors of Time and Space, highlights 2 key aspects in the work of Stephen Antonakos:
The exhibition presents key series of works that cover more than 6 decades of creation, from the late 1950s to 2012.
These include Neon Panels, Direct Neons, Packages, Neon Walls, Alphavitos, Travel Collages, as well as architectural model of chapels and the later Gold Works.
The works are displayed alongside early sculptures from the 1950s through to the 1970s, when the artist experimented with common materials such as fabric and cardboard.
The exhibition also features works by historic and modern artists, which focus on Antonakos’ aesthetic influence and similarities to art movements such as:
