The Alpha Bank Art Collection attended this year’s member’s meeting of the International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art (IACCCA), of which it is an active member.

By participating in IACCCA, Alpha Bank promotes its international presence in the field of cultural management, promotes Greek initiatives and strengthens global partnerships.

Occasioned by the Collection’s presence at the meeting, Dr Despoina Tsourgianni, head of the Alpha Bank Art Collection, presented Alpha Bank’s new publishing activity focused on Greek female artists.

Highlighting the Collection’s activities at the IACCCA member's meeting

The Alpha Bank Art Collection continues its active participation in international cultural networks and took part in this year’s member’s meeting of the International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art (IACCCA), of which it is a member.

The meeting took place in the city of Reims, France, from the 5th to the 7th of May 2025. In connection with the “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection” exhibition, Dr Despoina Tsourgianni, head of the Alpha Bank Art Collection, presented Alpha Bank’s new publishing activity focused on Greek female artists.

The presentation sparked interest and was followed by a fruitful discussion on the role of corporate collections, the visibility of women’s presence in the art scene and the future of publishing in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

The “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection” exhibition

The “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection” exhibition has been on display since October 2024 at the Banknote Museum of Ionian Bank in Corfu, showcasing 46 works of art by 41 female Greek artists that were created over a period from the late 19th century to the beginning of the 21st.

At a time when the issue of female empowerment dominates public discourse, the exhibition seeks to highlight the multifaceted and demanding role of women in the arts and society.

The exhibition is complemented by 2 publications:

  1. The bilingual catalogue titled: Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection – Exhibition catalogue:. Corfu, 2024
  2. The monographic publication titled: Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection, which includes the complete corpus of works by female artists held in the Collection.

One of the most significant collections worldwide

According to IACCCA’s 2015 Global Corporate Collections publication, the Alpha Bank Art Collection is one of the most significant private collections in Greece and ranks among the 80 most significant corporate collections globally.

It comprises approximately 5,500 works by Greek creators, spanning from 1880 to the present day. The Collection makes a substantial contribution to preserving and showcasing modern Greek artistic creations and to supporting the advancement of Greek culture in general.
