The Alpha Bank Art Collection loaned 6 works of art by the painter Panayiotis Tetsis for the retrospective exhibition organised by the National Gallery.

Extensive archive of printmaking compositions

In addition to the 6 works, the Collection also loaned part of the artist’s donation of copper and steel printmaking plates.

In 2005, Tetsis donated to the Alpha Bank Art Collection 89 plates he had kept in his studio. The Collection undertook their cleaning, restoration, documentation and the developing of new prints. As a result, the Collection acquired an extensive archive of printmaking compositions dating from 1856 to the late 1980s.

Exhibition marking 100 years since the artist’s birth

The National Gallery's retrospective exhibition marks the centenary of Panayiotis Tetsis’s birth and includes a total of 160 of his works, with 64 sourced from private and institutional collections. The exhibition is organized into thematic sections, such as:

  • The street market
  • The landscapes of Hydra and Sifnos
  • Still life
  • Portraits of friends and partners
