The sculpture The Dreamlike and the Dream. The Pollinators of Life II by Afroditi Liti was inspired by the natural environment and a dream the artist had, with a peach tree. Through the simplicity of a mirror, the sculptor captures the relationship between nature and human gesture.
The theme of the sculpture arises from a dream the artist had: a tall peach tree, laden with fruit, and with the birds of heaven resting on its branches.
The artist uses the shine and reflective quality of the stainless-steel mirror to showcase the contrast between the natural and the constructed form. In this way, she initiates a dialogue about the relationship between nature and human gesture.
Spectators are invited to move around the piece. The shadows that are formed on the wall and floor multiply the presence and expand the volume of the sculpture.

Afroditi Liti was born in Athens in 1953. Between 1972 and 1978 she studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts:
Her teachers were Giannis Pappas, Giannis Kolefas and Konstantinos Xynopoulos.
In 1978 she was awarded a scholarship by the Italian state and attended classes at Universita Degli Studi in Milan.
In 1983 she was awarded another scholarship by IKY (Greek State Scholarship Foundation) and pursued a postgraduate degree at the University of London, until 1986.
She taught Sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts for 21 years.
From the very start of her artistic journey, the natural environment was a main source of inspiration for Afroditi Liti.
In her work, she transforms trees, fruits, plants and animals into strictly personal sculptures using a wide range of materials and a poetic theme.
Many of her pieces are featured in public and private collections.
