“Women in Art” educational programme

The Banknote Museum of Ionian Bank on Corfu is hosting the “Women in Art” educational programme for primary and junior high school students. Starting from the exhibition “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection”, hosted by the Museum, the programme aims to highlight the artistic contribution of women to modern Greek art.

The Alpha Bank Art Collection is hosting the “Women in Art” educational programme for primary and junior high school students.

The starting point of the programme is the exhibition “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection”, hosted at the Banknote Museum of Ionian Bank on Corfu.

The exhibition features 46 works of art by 41 female Greek artists. Through the works, the fascinating course of female artists in Greece unfolds, from the late 19th to the early 21st century.

Children get acquainted with artistic creation through a special educational booklet and an experiential guided tour.

The programme offers students the opportunity to engage with art through the perspective of female artists and to reflect on issues of equality, creativity and artistic expression.

Through the educational booklet and the experiential guided tour, students:

  • Discover the journey of female Greek artists and understand the significance of their artistic expression.
  • Explore the works of art in the exhibition and become familiar with different techniques and art movements.
  • Discuss the role of women in art and their contribution to shaping the cultural identity.
  • Express themselves creatively through artistic activities and find inspiration in the works of the artists.

With this experience, children gain knowledge, develop their critical thinking skills and are encouraged to express their own creative voice.
