The Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection loaned banknotes issued on Corfu to the exhibition “The Industrial Heritage of Corfu, 19th-29th Century”. The exhibition focused on the industrial history of the island from the early 19th to the late 20th century.

Alpha Bank’s Numismatic Collection loaned 6 coin notes to the exhibition “The Industrial Heritage of Corfu, 19th-20th Century”. The notes were printed by the G. Aspiotis Bros printing company on Corfu from 1918 to 1925.

The industrial history of Corfu

The exhibition focused on the industrial history of the island from the early 19th to the late 20th century. Manufacturing and the cottage industry flourished in the Ionian Islands during that period.

The exhibition layout followed a narrative to present everyday products used by the Corfiots over the past 2 centuries, including paper, rope, olive oil, flour, pasta, leather, ceramics, salt and wine.

The exhibition included items from private collections and the collections of the General State Archives – Corfu Division, the Theotoky Estate and the Patounis Soap Factory.
