How the children benefited
Through group activities and games, students participating in the programme had the chance to come in contact with the concepts of money and transactions.
By accessing the programme materials, students:
- Explored the history of coins and transactions, from antiquity to the present day.
- Got to know the main means of transaction, which first appeared in Ancient Greece and changed the course of numismatic history globally.
- Got acquainted with modern transaction methods, as dictated by the advent of technology and the digital era.
- Understood the value of money.
- Came in contact with topics such as modern financial options and their effective management.
- Grasped the meaning of concepts such as budgeting, responsible consumption and saving.
Warm welcome by the teachers
The educational programme was received with enthusiasm by the teachers, who highlighted its value in the educational process. As they underlined, the programme:
- Offered valuable tools and suggested new teaching methods, allowing to create an interactive and attractive learning environment.
- Facilitated them to adjust the educational process to the children’s needs and interests, thanks to its flexible structure.
As a result, children actively participated in the activities, worked together, exchanged knowledge, and interacted with classmates, teachers and other members of the school community.
The aim for the new school year
During the 2025-2026 school year, the “Journey through the world of money” museum kit is expected to continue its visits to primary and high schools in Greece and abroad. This way, even more children will have the chance to come in contact with the evolution of transactions and get to know key financial literacy concepts.
The Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection created the “Journey through the world of money” educational programme in the form of a museum kit in 2024 as a replacement for the previous one titled “The Collection in a travelling museum kit”. With this programme, our aim is to continue enriching the educational process, and create a vibrant and supportive school environment, where children and teachers are encouraged to learn, explore and collaborate.
