Guided tour for the 2nd Primary School of Rethymno at the Exhibition “WOMEN”
The Alpha Bank Art Collection organised a guided tour at the exhibition “WOMEN. Greek Female Artists in the Alpha Bank Collection” on Friday 23 January on the occasion of the International Day of Education. The tour welcomed 44 4th-grade students from the 2nd Primary School of Rethymno and 4 of their teachers.
An experiential journey into the world of contemporary art
The visit to the Contemporary Art Museum of Crete was designed to:
- Introduce children to contemporary art through direct engagement.
- Highlight the museum’s role as a place of learning, dialogue and experiential discovery.
Dialogue, observation and creative thinking
The students explored the exhibition space and observed artworks from different times and artistic styles. At the same time, the students had the chance to discuss concepts such as the notion of collection, dialogue in art, abstraction and the variety of materials.
The children were encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings and approach the artworks actively and creatively.
The museum as a place of learning and inspiration
At the end of the tour, the students received the educational booklet “Art in Conversation: Exploring Women's Creativity”, which they used during the visit to engage with some of the proposed activities. Working both individually and in groups, the children observed, compared and created. This way, they continued their museum experience through play and imagination.
Through this event, students had the opportunity to link contemporary art with the educational process and confirm the museum’s role as an open space for learning and inspiration.
