A Discussion between Museums in Corfu: The Pandemic Crisis in the Cultural Sector

On Saturday 11 March 2017 a meeting was held at the Alpha Bank Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank in Corfu on “The Corfu Museums Converse: Challenges and Prospects.” The conference was co-hosted by the Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank and the Museology team of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University.

The aim of the meeting was to present the most recent museology practices and perspectives of implementing a new policy in the Corfu museum landscape, as well as to highlight any problems that affect the development of this landscape today.

The meeting was attended by the Corfu Annex of the National Gallery, the Capodistrias Museum, the Folklore Museum of Acharavi, the School Museum of Corfu, the Nikos Paktites Folk Museum of Sinarades, the Solomos Museum, the Museum of the Corfu Philharmonic Society, the Art Gallery of Corfu, the Museology Team of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University and the Alpha Bank Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank.

The meeting was organised and coordinated by Dr Dimitra Tsangari, Curator of the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, and Dr Stavros Vlizos, Assistant Professor at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University.
