The Alpha Bank Art Collection is participating in the exhibition “120 Years since the Death of Nikolaos Gyzis”, hosted by the Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki – Casa Bianca, from 15.10.2021 to 15.01.2022.

On the 120-year anniversary from Nikolaos Gyzis’ death, the Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki is hosting the commemorative exhibition “120 Years since the Death of Nikolaos Gyzis”, presenting the artist’s works from different areas of Greece, different institutes and private collections.

The renowned painter and printmaker of the 19th century, Nikolaos Gyzis, is an important chapter in Greek art, both for Greece and for the history of art.

Gyzis left behind a rich legacy, part of which is housed in the listed building Casa Bianca, as the permanent collection of the Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki.

The exhibition, curated by Dr Konstantinos Didaskalou, includes portraits of the Gyzis family members; posters and diplomas; ethographic, religious and allegoric themes; still lives; as well as sketches and oil paintings from Bavaria and Tyrol.

The Alpha Bank Collection boasts a number of Gyzis’ works, 4 of which were presented at the exhibition: The Confectioner, Gratitude Laying a Wreath on the Altar of Immortality, Allegory of Painting (palette) and Drawing for the Poster of the Artistic Printers.
